Pros

Pro: Yes, You Can Use it to Bake Potatoes

For a lot of people, when they set out to buy a toaster oven, one of the first things they want to know is whether or not it can bake potatoes.

That might sound like a strange question, but only if you’ve never owned a bad toaster oven before!

If you have, then you know that many cheaper and/or lower quality toaster ovens really struggle with making baked potatoes. They either never get quite done in the middle, which is the worst, or they never reach the desired consistency.

However, if you can’t imagine life without baked potatoes, you will love this toaster oven. It’s perfect for making potatoes that are crispy on the outside and nice and tender on the inside.

The non-potato fans probably won’t care much about this feature, but we think it’s pretty great.

Pro: Nice, Even Cooking Every Time

Something else we really appreciate about the Delonghi toaster oven is the fact that it offers very even cooking.

A lot of toaster ovens are bad about having “warm spots” and “cold spots,” meaning that your food often ends up too toasty in some places and too cold in others.

However, this toaster oven actually cooks quite evenly. So, when you make something, no matter what it is, you’ll know that it will be fully done and fully delicious in each spot. This should give you a lot of confidence in your cooking.

Pro: This Oven Features Some Awesome Presets

Let’s face it. Not everyone is a natural in the kitchen. Some people can really benefit from a little extra help and guidance when they cook.

If that sounds like you, you’ll be glad to know that this oven features some really great presets. With these presets, you can cook several great food items just by pushing a button or turning a dial.

And, while many toaster ovens that come with presets often leave much to be desired, with the presets not working as they should, you won’t find that with the Delonghi toaster oven. These presets work, and they work well.

Pro: You Can Bake a Cake in this Thing

Most people do not think of a toaster oven as their best option for making a cake or other baked goods.

Believe it or not, however, this toaster oven is actually a pro when it comes to baked goodies. You can even make an entire cake in this toaster oven, not a quality you’ll find with most other toaster ovens on the market.

What’s more is that this toaster oven handles baked goods thoroughly and fully for perfect tasting treats every time. In fact, the only issue or complaint we have heard on the baked goods front is that it’s not great with cookies and other thinner baked goods.

Pro: It Features Seven Different Toast Settings

Are you particular about how you like your toast? If so, you will love the power and control you have with the Delonghi toaster oven.

This toaster oven features an amazing seven different settings just for toast, so you can always program your oven to get your toast exactly the way you want it.

Whether you like your toast light and close to white or nice and dark, you can achieve the exact results you want with this toaster oven.

As with any toaster oven, the settings can take some getting used to. You have to figure out which setting will get you the desired results, how long to toast, and basic other customization options to get the toast you want. However, once you get it figured out, you will be able to make perfect toast every single time.

Pro: This Oven Comes Complete with a Pizza Pan

Do you love pizza but hate the high cost of having it delivered? Well, don’t worry about that for a moment longer. Now, you can make your own delicious pizzas right at home and right in your toaster oven. All you need is the Delonghi toaster oven, which comes complete with its own pizza pan.

This thirteen-inch pizza pan is built with just the right materials at just the right thickness and depth to make a perfect pie each and every time. So, ditch the delivery menus and start making scrumptious pizza at home with this awesome toaster oven and included pizza pan.

Pro: It Can Roast a Pretty Sizable Chicken

Pizza and baked potatoes aren’t the only foods that some toaster ovens struggle with. Some of them also aren’t good at roasting meats. However, rest assured that this is not the case with this oven from Delonghi.

It can roast an entire chicken at one time. In fact, the unit is made to cook chickens of up to three and a half pounds with ease.

So, if you’re a fan of roast chicken, you’ll definitely be a fan of this toaster oven.

Pro: It is Super Lightweight

Something else to appreciate about this toaster oven is that it’s very lightweight. When you first hear that, you might think it’s a bad thing, but that’s definitely not the case. Lightweight does not equal poor construction, at least not in this case.

What it does equal, instead, is a toaster oven that is easy to lift and move as needed. Imagine moving into a new home or taking your toaster oven on a trip. That’s going to be a huge hassle if you have a giant, bulky toaster oven. If you have a small lightweight one like this, however, it’s no problem at all.

All in all, we think the lightweight but still sturdy build of this toaster oven is a nice feature, especially if you are someone who plans to move your toaster oven around a lot.

Pro: It Has an Auto Shut Off Feature

While remembering to turn off your toaster oven after you’re done cooking should be simple enough, plenty of us forget to do it. Unfortunately, this can sometimes lead to house fires and other potential dangers. At the very least, it can lead to wasted energy and higher electrical bills.

The good news is that this toaster oven has an automatic shut off feature. Basically, once you set the timer to cook something and once it goes off, the oven knows when you’ve taken out the dish and the timer is complete. It then shuts itself off so you don’t have to remember.

If you’re forgetful or if you just want one less step to remember when you cook, you’ll really love the Delonghi toaster oven and its automatic shut off option.

Pro: Accessories Can Go in the Dishwasher

We’ve already mentioned how the Delonghi toaster oven comes with many different accessories. And, while these can prove a pain to store, they are all very easy to clean.

That is because the vast majority of the accessories that the toaster oven comes with can go in the dishwasher.

So, instead of having to figure out a way to clean your entire toaster oven, which is often what you have to do with many models, you can simply remove the dirty accessories, stick them in the dishwasher, and let it do the cleaning work for you. Talk about easy!

Pro: It’s Made from Durable, Attractive Stainless Steel

Earlier, we mentioned how the Delonghi toaster oven is very lightweight but how you shouldn’t let that fool you into thinking that it’s not high quality.

Proving that point is the fact that this toaster oven is made from durable, attractive stainless steel. This material won’t scratch, crack, or run into other issues. Plus, it looks sleek and attractive for years of use and enjoyment that blend in with any kitchen décor.

If you want a toaster oven that will last you for the long haul and look great the whole time, this is it.

Pro: This Oven is Very High Powered

A big complaint that people commonly have about toaster ovens is that they just aren’t all that powerful, at least a big chunk of the time.

However, you don’t have to worry about low power with this great offering from Delonghi. It is actually every bit as powerful as a standard oven. In fact, many people, especially those looking to save money or space, will use these toaster ovens instead of a standard oven. They really work that well and have all the same capabilities as a regular oven.

Pro: It Features a Nice Interior Light

One small but mighty thing we really like about this oven is that it’s got a great interior light. We’ve all been in a situation where we want to see how the cooking process is going, but opening the door is going to disturb it.

Fortunately thanks to the inside light, you can check on how your dish is coming along without opening the door and lengthening your cooking time.

It’s little features like this one that really set this toast oven apart from others on the market.

Pro: This Oven Heats Up Super Quickly

Is there anything worse or more grueling than waiting for your oven to heat up? It can seem like it takes forever, especially when you’re hungry and/or in a hurry.

Fortunately, this oven really doesn’t have that problem. The Delonghi toaster oven is designed to heat up super quickly, and it definitely does.

While its toaster function may not be as quick as we’d like, the actual oven component works very quickly, thanks in large part to its convection design.

As you can see, there are plenty of things to like and appreciate about this toaster oven. Our advice is to read this review carefully, do a little research of your own, and maybe even check this toaster oven out in person. That way, you can make a truly informed decision about whether or not it’s the right choice for you.

Cons

Con: It Can Be Kind of Slow at Toasting

While there is certainly plenty to love about this toaster oven, one thing we don’t love is the fact that it can be a bit slow when it comes to making toast.

You’d think that toast would be super easy and super-fast for a toaster oven, especially a good one like this.

And, while it does make some good, even toast, made perfectly to your liking, it certainly isn’t quick about it. In fact, the perfect cooking is probably what takes the toasting a little longer than we might like, so it’s kind of a tossup on whether it’s worth it or not.

Con: All Those Accessories Can be a Little Overwhelming

First off, we have to say that we appreciate all of the accessories that come standard with this toaster oven. They include all kinds of extras for perfect cooking of a wide range of foods.

With that said, however, there are SO many accessories that it can get a little overwhelming. Plus, you have to find somewhere to store all of those accessories, and some of them are a little unwieldy.

If you live in a small apartment or just don’t have a ton of storage space, this toaster oven might not be the right fit for you due to all the extra parts and pieces. Of course, some people have plenty of room to store the accessories and can use and appreciate them to the fullest. If that’s you, then this con probably won’t seem like a negative at all.

40 Small Kitchen Ideas For Those On A Budget To Make Your Kitchen Desirable

Small Kitchen

When moving into a house or an apartment, you may realize your kitchen space isn’t as big as you wanted it to be. This can be a huge bummer, especially if you love cooking.

There are ways to combat this issue. Certain decorations and color schemes can be used to make the space appear larger than it is.

Benefits of Having a Small Kitchen

Before we get into the ideas for your small kitchen let’s consider why this may be a good thing. For one, a small kitchen won’t require much cleaning.

No one wants to clean a kitchen all day and night after having dinner guests. Another benefit is that you probably shop smarter. You simply don't have room to fit everything in it, so you consider things that you really need versus the things you want.

Top 40 Ideas for Your Small Kitchen

The following ideas are great for those on a budget who don’t want to have to spend a ton of money trying to get their kitchen to look desirable.

Bright Colored Appliances

The brighter the colors of your appliances the better. Just make sure to stay away from dark colored appliances in small kitchens.

About the Kingsford Brand

Kingsford Charcoal and their line of Charcoal Grills are proudly Made in the USA. And their background is a story that is filled with pure American history. In 1919, Edward G. Ford wanted to see the waste generated by his sawmill and the wood burning at his plants to be reused. He found the solution to his problem with a process that pressed blocks of reconstituted char. This was the invention of the charcoal briquet. And although it was originally marketed by the Ford brand, later it was renamed Kingsford Charcoal in honor of Edward Kingsford.

Benefits Of Having A Squeaky Clean Kitchen

clean kitchen

As a home organizer, I’ve seen some pretty extreme messes. Bedrooms with years of messes piled to the ceilings, litter boxes unemptied for months, and even bathrooms that have never been cleaned in more than a decade.

One of the main areas that people tend to neglect when they struggle with depression, anxiety, or deep psychological issues like agoraphobia, is the kitchen.

It’s easy to live off microwave meals, use paper plates, and avoid opening the fridge for more than a couple of seconds while you reach for the milk. And that means: it’s a highly ignored and sometimes feared space.

As I’ve worked with my clients, I’ve heard hundreds of apologies for not doing what they should have, but I’ve also heard questions about why it’s so important to live in a clean space.

Today, we’re taking a look at the kitchen in particular and a number of benefits anyone would receive from keeping a clean kitchen.

Reasons to Keep a Clean Kitchen

There are tons of reasons you should keep your kitchen clean. I’ve compiled together just a few of the main ones. If anyone’s got any questions about the benefits of a clean kitchen, this list should pretty much knock out any questions.

Keeping Away Pests

poisoned rat

One of the biggest problems I’ve come across as I’ve cleaned up people's homes is vermin and pest control. When kitchens are left dirty, disorganized, and ignored, insects get in and infect the room with their eggs, the bacteria, and other nasty stuff they carry with them.

Mice, rats, and other rodents often infiltrate kitchens, as well, and dig through cabinets and cupboards full of dry goods, looking for an easy meal.

Rodents and insects can carry tons of illnesses, diseases, and filth with them, which means your immune system becomes compromised and you can easily become very, very ill.

Lowering Stress

headache

Once I’ve gotten clients’ kitchens cleaned, I witnessed the vast and instant stress relief from my clients. They no longer live with the burden of having a dirty, unkempt, and unsafe kitchen lurking just a few feet from their bedrooms.

Having a clean home means having a healthy, lower-stress home.

Easier to Use

chef illustration

A dirty, disorganized kitchen is extremely difficult to use. Dirty pots, pans, plates, and stacks of items can cause you to have no work surface, cause accidents, and almost always leads to frustration and impatience. A clean kitchen is much easier to use because nothing is in your way.

Maintenance of Appliances, Floors, Cabinets, and Countertops

neat kitchen

Keeping your kitchen clean means keeping your appliances clean. When you make a smoothie, and some of that fruity goodness spills over onto the blender, you need to clean it immediately. The reason is that when appliances go uncleaned, they can become corroded or otherwise damaged. And that means you have to replace them much more quickly than you would otherwise.

You also need to keep your floors, cabinets, and countertops clean to prevent erosion, water damage, or other issues that can be caused by spills. Residue and build-up often result in needing to replace countertops, cabinets, and flooring.

Save on Food Expenses

person preparing food

One of the other common issues I’ve found with clients who don’t keep their kitchens clean is an overspending on food on a regular basis.

These clients don’t go into their cabinets, so they don’t know that they’ve already got three cans of tomato soup. Or, their refrigerators are so packed with old, inedible food that they don’t go to the fridge often for fresh food, perpetuating the cycle of more and more food piling up.

When we keep our kitchen clean, we know the food we have available to us, and can cook fresh, healthy meals, and that means our food doesn’t spoil.

Entertain More Comfortably

person making dough

When you keep a clean kitchen, entertaining family and friends isn’t as likely to cause issues. People naturally tend to gravitate towards the kitchen, where food is prepared, and if your kitchen is dirty or disorganized, you might feel embarrassed about having people over and avoid entertaining altogether.

I’ve had clients who haven’t entertained in their homes for up to 20 years because their kitchens were dirty and unwelcoming. Once the kitchens were cleaned, the rest of the house followed, and those same clients began enjoying having company over on the regular.

Better Hygiene

couple cooking in the kitchen

When your kitchen is dirty, not only may you waste food and attract bugs, but the foods you have in their can spoil. Piled up dishes and other messes can invite and spread bacteria and germs that lead to a variety of illnesses and ailments.

Be sure to not only clean off countertops, and wash dishes, but keep the refrigerator clean, and use sanitizer on everything to kill off germs that may be lurking in dark corners.

Stay Safer

kitchen

After you’ve had a party or evening of drinks with pals, it’s tempting to leave the messes for the next day. But, unfortunately, there are safety concerns when spills are left, or grease is unattended in that pot on the stove. Grease fires can start, and slip and falls can happen.

The kitchen is, by nature, a dangerous place even when well kept. After all, there are knives, fire, and electricity all concentrated in one place. This gives all the more reason to keep a clean kitchen.

Prevent Foodborne Illnesses

bruschetta

Probably one of the biggest concerns of all with an unkempt kitchen is the possibility of foodborne illnesses from spoiling foods or cross-contamination from raw meat and poultry.

Always be sure to wash your hands both before and after handling produce, meat, poultry, or any other raw food materials.

Wash cutting boards in hot, soapy water every time you use them, and discard any that have deep gouges in them, whether they are plastic or wood.

Always clean all kitchen gadgets after they’ve been used, whether they’re meat thermometers, measuring cups, or can openers.

Always toss spoiled food the second you discover it has gone bad. Don’t just toss it into a trash can and leave that for later, but, rather, take out the trash immediately to avoid the rot from remaining in the house.

Never trust food or beverages that seem a little off. Just pitch them.

Tips for Keeping a Clean Kitchen

To help you keep that kitchen clean, I’ve come up with a list of some of the best cleaning tips and techniques.

1. If you ever have honey on your countertop or in the cabinet like I have, you’ll appreciate this one: use a coaster underneath the honey, syrup, or other sticky substance containers.

Beverage on a coaster
Grout Sealer

2. To repel stains, twice a year apply grout sealer to tile and stone sealer to stone countertops. Packages of these items can be purchased at hardware stores. Just follow the directions.

3. Switch to plastic cutting boards over wood. Plastic cutting boards can be sanitized in dishwashers, while wood ones cannot.

Plastic cutting boards
Food on partchment paper

4. For super quick clean up on long-days, lay down parchment paper or wax paper beneath your work surfaces when preparing food. The juices from veggies, fish, and meat will collect on the paper and won’t make it to countertops. Just scoop everything up together, toss into a trash can and take out the trash.

5. You probably know this one, but in case you don’t, baking soda in refrigerators and freezers can absorb odors. Replace the box every three months.

You can also use coffee beans in a bowl, cotton balls soaked in vanilla extract, or mounds of charcoal, and place any of these in freezers and fridges to eliminate those nasty odors.

Baking soda in a bowl
Ice cube

6. Dump out old ice cubes at least once a month and make a new batch. Old ice cubes trap odors from the food freezing beside them.

7. For garbage disposals, grind up some citrus peels along with a handful of ice cubes. The ice sharpens the blades while the citrus cleans out the air and smells.

If you really need to kill odors in there, make some vinegar cubes in the freezer instead of ice cubes and use those with the citrus peels. Just be sure to label them so that no one gets an unpleasant surprise in their soda.

8. Be sure to always wipe burner drip pans off as soon as they’re cool. This will help prevent caked on messes that stain or are difficult to clean up later. Be sure to clean off the rest of the stove every time you cook as well, including where the spoon rests should sit.

A Happy Kitchen, A Happy Home

When you keep a clean kitchen, you keep a happy home. Cleanliness isn’t literally the most important thing in the universe, but it is one of the most important things for a healthy, happy home. Years of unhappy clients leaving their homes a mess have taught me that while cleanliness isn’t necessarily next to godliness, cleanliness is next to happiness.
